Helping Hands & Open Hearts

HELPING HANDS & OPEN HEARTS

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in.Matthew 25:35

BE A VOLUNTEER: Action Creates Change

Passivity does not solve hunger. Action does. Our volunteers are the reason we can host
HIV/AIDS awareness days. They are the reason a job seeker has a professional suit. Join a team
that focuses on results.

Manage the Details

Efficiency matters. Help us organize dry goods so they reach hungry tables faster.

Protect the Vulnerable

Be the face of compassion. Assist with veteran reintegration programs.

Lifting Up Families & Youth

Education breaks the cycle of poverty. Our computer labs are open for high schoolers working on college apps. We don’t stop there. Etiquette classes give young girls and boys the social skills to succeed. Parents get help too. We offer resume writing assistance. Our Clothes Closet ensures they look professional for interviews. We want our young people to feel ready for any opportunity. Volunteers dedicate time to mock interviews. They practice firm handshakes. Financial literacy workshops are often available. It’s about securing a bright future for the entire family unit.

Standing by Veterans & The Homeless

Serving your country should not lead to sleeping on the street. We focus heavily on housing
assistance for military veterans. The goal is self-sufficiency. Our outreach also covers the
general homeless population in Atlanta. We provide food. We offer a connection to a
community that cares. We stock our food pantry with reliable dry goods. We offer a connection
to a community that cares. Emergency shelter referrals are always available. We see immediate
relief as the first step. Then, we work on long-term hope.
